Stephen Archer

Stephen co-teaches silent mindfulness meditation retreats at Sangsurya with Karl Baker. He has practiced mindfulness for over 40 years, which includes spending 13 years training as an ordained Buddhist monk in the Thai Forest tradition.

Stephen’s approach draws from ancient wisdom, modern psychology, neuroscience, and his own experience of leading over 100 residential retreats. He emphasises keeping ourselves safe whilst we learn and grow and encourages retreatants to trust their own authority and inherent capacity for wholeness and love.

His retreats consist of group sessions along with free time to move with one’s own rhythm. Daily sessions include instruction in the practice of mindfulness, sitting and walking mindfulness practices and reflections. These retreats are suitable for people who are new to the practice as well as those with previous experience.

Stephen has been constantly evolving his teaching style and relationship to meditation. He teaches in a modern, non-dogmatic and highly accessible style.
